 Why do people drink coffee?

For some, having a cup of coffee is their way of relaxing, whilst for others, it’s just the opposite.  They have a cup of coffee when they want to get going.  Some like to drink theirs in peaceful solitude whilst others use coffee as the reason for getting together with friends for a social chat.  Some like it at the end of the day, others like it first thing in the morning….and for many, the addictive properties of the caffeine means they need their ‘fix’ regularly. 

For many people, coffee is serious business.  And when coffee lovers start talking about where the best coffees in the world come from, that’s when the fun starts!.

Some swear by the creamy mocha taste of North African coffee, whilst others won’t move from Costa Rican beans which provide full-bodied, robust richness.  Others rate the sweet and mellow richness of Indonesian coffee as their best, whilst many rate the rich, smokiness of Guatemalan beans as superior.   Of course, it’s a matter of taste – and there’s no better way of sampling all these enticing flavours than to have your own coffee machine.

Having an office coffee machine or one at home means you can be creative with your coffees.  The suppliers of the coffee vending machines also often stock a huge array of coffees from around the world, so you can go travelling without leaving home!.   Some suppliers even sell pre-selected variety packs to give customers the opportunity of discovering the subtle differences in the different coffees to find their favourite. 

If you are going down the route of office coffee machines – and you want the flexibility to sample all different brands of coffee, then it’s worth checking that you’re not going to have your hands tied by a coffee contract with the supplier of the equipment .  Perhaps you should shop around for more flexible coffee machine rental models, such as that provided by leading Australian supplier, Segafredo Zanetti, which enables people to rent coffee machines from them without being obliged to buy coffee from them.

It’s also worth noting that not all coffees are the same.   Inventive marketing and packaging is widespread in the coffee industry and there are some tricks that consumers should look out for.  For example, a pack that is trumpeted as being ‘100% Arabica’ doesn’t mean that the beans all come from the same plantation or from the same processing facility.   Because the packs contain a mixture of beans from different regions, the characteristics of the coffee can be affected ie the taste, the body, the finish and the creaminess.
